Saturday 16th April - 2.30pm - 4pm Inventing stories in the air with French International performer Aline Chapet $60 Per Person 8 spaces available:
looking for new spaces and new ways to be, this workshop is for people who already have an aerial work and are looking to develop their language in the air.
Starting from basic aerial tricks, we explore and search until each and everyone find its own way of doing, its path to give a new life and transform the original tricks. We will use improvisation, state of mind and specific barriers such as no hands, eyes closed, unknown music...
Aline Chapet--Batlle is a graduated student of the Academie Fratellini in Paris, one of the two superior circus schools in France. Specialized in aerial work, she has been working around Europe and in the world with numerous stage directors (Cisco Aznar, Mauricio Celedon, Adrian Schwarstein...) for various creations from circus to theatre through opera and dance. She is now exporting her work to Australia and teaching in multiple circus schools in the country.
This class will focus on rope-work, drops, and dynamic skills. As a pre-requisite, students must be able to invert from standing on the trapeze bar, while holding the ropes. Depending on the general level of the class, spinning skills may be covered as well.
This class is for the circus educator who would like to review important milestones in child development and learning, as well as discuss motivation and problem behaviours in class. New and future circus arts instructors are welcome to attend. Those instructing or planning to instruct students aged 1 to 18 will find this class most helpful. Topics covered include: physical literacy, child development (motor, cognitive, emotional and social milestones and their application to teaching in circus arts), problem behaviour and effective interventions, learning and memory processes, common special needs diagnoses, and motivation. A short “brain break” will take place halfway through the class for snacks and rest. Please come prepared to take notes.
This class is for anyone who has wanted to start juggling and would like to go through the basic progressions to start from scratch, and train all the way up to 3-ball and 4-ball cascades. This can also serve as a refresher course for the juggler who would like to start teaching beginner juggling progressions. Students have successfully learned basic juggling in one day using this method, with of course further practice necessary to improve their skills. Feel free to bring a note-book, and come ready to learn the easy progressions you can take home and practice on your own!
